eVisa & Visa on Arrival in Mozambique

Most first trips to Mozambique start with an eVisa or a visa issued on arrival. We confirm which route applies to your nationality and prepare the file so you are not turned back at the border.

Which route applies to you

Mozambique operates an electronic visa portal alongside visas issued at designated entry points and at embassies abroad. Eligibility, permitted stay and the fee depend on your nationality and purpose of travel, and the rules are revised periodically, so we verify against the current official position before you book.

Where travellers get caught out

The common failures are a passport with insufficient validity or blank pages, no confirmed accommodation or return ticket, and using a tourist entry for work that requires a business visa or work authorisation. An eVisa or arrival visa never permits paid employment.

Moving from a visitor visa to residence

If your stay becomes long term, the path runs through a work permit or investor route and then DIRE residence. Starting that conversation before you travel avoids an exit-and-re-enter trip later.

Frequently asked questions

Can I work on an eVisa?

No. Visitor categories do not authorise paid work. Employment requires a work permit or an approved quota position, and enforcement at inspections is real.

How far in advance should I apply?

Apply as soon as your travel dates are fixed. Processing times vary with volume, and last-minute applications leave no room to correct a document error.
